Understanding the Key to Attracting and Keeping the Best People

After only 3 weeks, one of my clients had to let one of his staff members go. This staff member came highly recommended and had all of the qualifications for the job; she even had experience in the industry. That didn’t mean that she was going to fit. She was a stress case and, in his business he needed someone flexible and adaptable.

State of the Market

Fear is a powerful motivator. It can drive banks to failure, nations to war and people watching their growing waistlines to put down that third slice of pizza.

Unlocking the Buying Code for Luxury Real Estate Clients

To sell to the luxury buyer, you must tap into the buyer’s “culture code.” This code varies from country to country. According to Jurgin Klaric, “forget about location. Marketing to the ultra wealthy is all about niche marketing and appealing to the factors that anchor luxury in the buyer’s country.” Clotaire Rapaille, the marketing consultant to numerous Fortune 100 companies, also emphasizes the importance of being “on code” when you work with buyers and sellers. Rapaille’s book, The Culture Code, identifies what’s on code for Americans. Klaric’s work addresses what matters to people from other cultures.

Are You In The Career You Were BORN For?

Ooooh, you should see the eyes in the audience when I open with this question! You can almost hear them wondering: "why is 'Mr. Internet' asking that kind of question and how does it have anything to do with my online success?" This response is not too surprising when you stop to think about how many people just sort of "fall into" their career. The way you answer the phone, schedule an appointment, conduct a sales call or listing presentation, screen and respond to e-mails, design an ad or a webpage or content for a property flyer, conduct a staff meeting, select the right candidate for a position and recruit the right people are all examples of systems.

Five Phrases to Drop from Your Emails!

It never ceases to amaze me how ineffective and lackluster our follow up emails can be. This is a common malady in every industry what with our casual use of email communication. It’s gotten to the point that many of us consider emailing like text messaging and instant messages. Too often emails go out filled with spelling errors, lack of capitalization, poor or no punctuation and obscure abbreviations.

Practical Tips for Systemizing Your Business!

It seems everyone is getting on the "systemize" your business bandwagon these days. I am proud to say that, like the old Barbara Mandrel song, “I was systems, when systems wasn’t cool.” Ok, forgiven me for taking some literary liberties.I am happy to report that business owners serious about building great businesses recognize “It’s now to cool to have a systems driven business” too.

I am also confident in saying, “that the best businesses in the world are systemized businesses”. The best realtors in the world also realize that ‘the systems approach’ is critical to taking their business to the next level.

Work Place Behavior

In a world made up of greed, there needs to be a way to balance life with work. Too many employees nowadays are working themselves, literally, to death and for what? To have the most, and the best, of what life has to offer. They strive for a better car than their neighbor or co-worker, the biggest house on the block, and the most expensive suits or clothes. Our families are getting lost in the shuffle and our health insurance rates are skyrocketing. All in the name of competition, power and consumption.
